I think I can, I think I can....

YAAYYY!!! That is all I want to say today... but I won't, I will expand on why I am so happy and screaming for joy. As I had mentioned before I had been having some major (MAJOR) shin splint issues and had to take a break from my running. Last weekend I ran seven miles and felt fine. I have continued with my training schedule right were I left off. This week I ran my planned 4,6,4 miles and it was great. I have been running with my friend Maricela (I will be doing the San Diego Marathon with her at the end of May) and it was great. My legs have not been hurting more than they are supposed to, I continue to take my meds and icing my shins and whatever else hurts after my run.

I ran 12 miles today!!! YAY for me! I was so nervous about it. I have never ran that distance my myself and its not easy on the brain. As I left for my run I saw my friend, who yelled out the window, giving me encouragement and it was awesome! I started crying and it wasn't even a mile away from home. After I composed myself I was in my groove and it was the best run I have had. I felt wonderful! I couldn't believe how good I was doing and staying on pace. I have been thinking how many people have been so supportive with my running. As a mother of three, this is no easy task. Juggling schedules and making sure the kids are being watched is not easy. Dave and my mom have made some serious schedule shifting to accommodate me. I can't thank them enough for that. As in life, we have friends along our way to give us the push and encouragement we need to make it through this journey, we have our Savior how has sacrificed more than we know to help us achieve our ultimate goal!

My sister-in-law, Amy, met me at mile 9 to finish out. As she and my brother, Esteban, drove up to meet me they couldn't believe it was me. It was so fun to see a familiar face smiling in amazement at me. Esteban said I looked "cool", that is pretty big deal coming from him ;) . The truth is that I love to run! I LOOOOOOVE IT! It gives me peace of mind, it allows me to think with out interruption from my little monkeys, it gives me a great work out and its so fun.

I am so grateful for all my family and friends who have shown such support during my training and for my training partners a long the way. I really don't think I could do this with out them.

Are you wondering why I have doughnuts up there? Well, this is all I want to eat today. I think I deserve them after 2:03 hours of running.

So which doughnuts did you have?
Man running for over 2 hours.
I'd be dead.
It's so nice you have people to help you out.
I'm struggling just getting to the gym. Dru's at school all the time and no family you know.
It's hard.

12 miles is crazy girl! I am glad that your chins/calves are good and your are able to get back to what you love. The way you describe how you feel about running reminded me of that movie. What women want with Mel Gibson. I feel that way too about running been able to think without interuptions in priceless but I haven't done it in avery long time maybe a should start running again.

Oh Man...a bit of me is disappointed...I thought you'd be sharing a wonderfully perfect recipe for making the best donuts ever...instead I am guilty of not running and only thinking of KrispyCreams.
Awesome job on your part. You definately deserve a dozen or more!!

Poopy, you rock my world! I can't even run a block without getting huffy-puffy...Have you gotten to that point called "runner's high"?? Where you don't feel anything, and your vision gets more defined and you experience euphoria?? check this out: http://www.lehigh.edu/~dmd1/sarah.html

Wow, awesome! I wish I LOVED to run. It's all I can do to move my legs faster than a basic speed walk.
