How I met my L.O.V.E

(This picture was taken last year in Maui during a snorkeling trip)

This was on my friend Stephanie's blog. She was very young when I last saw her and when I found out she was married I was very surprised. Her family lived in Venezuela when we lived there. Anyway, it was so fun to find out more about her and how her husband met, so I wanted to do it...

How did you meet your LoVe?

(Answer all the questions HONESTLY)
1. Where did you meet? Dave and I met when he was on his mission in Florida. He was in our family ward. I was attending singles wards and I had a very steady boyfriend. I met him in the hall way at church. I had VERY long hair and the next week I had chopped it all off. Then he got transfered to the singles ward. I helped out when ever possible with the investigators.

2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met? Not too much. I thought he was very cute but... you know he was a missionary so there was nothing there.

3. Do you remember what she/he was wearing? He was wearing his missionary uniform, very attractive ;)

4. Where was the first time you kissed this person? On our first date. He had been home, in Utah, for about 2 or 3 weeks. He said if you are ever in Utah give me a call... My oldest brother was getting married so we were in Utah so I DID call him. I should mention that by this point I had long broken up with my ex boyfriend. Anyway, we hung out on a Saturday night until 5 in the morning and talked all night and finally we kissed.

5. How did he/she ask you out? I think it was some what mutual. After the Saturday night "date" he called me but Marcos never told me. So I called him on Monday and he asked me out again. We have been together ever since.

6. Where did you go for your first date? We went to temple square, where he waited for me for 45 minutes, we went to Training Table, we took Pumba, his dog, up Millcreek Canyon and later looked at pictures of his mission and family, watched a movie with some friends and just talked and talked the rest of the night.

7. How long did you know this person before you became a couple? Not very long. We have been together since our first date.

8. Has this person ever proposed to you? Yes, he proposed August 3, 1999. We had been dating for just under 2 months. We got married October 7, 1999. It was such a fun summer.

9. Do you and this person have kids together? Yes we have almost three kids. Leah, who is 5.5, Mylo, who is almost 3 and we are expecting a little girl in early May. Her name will be Milli... I can't WAIT!!!

10. Have you ever broken the law with this person? I don't think so.

11. When was the first time you realized that you liked this person? The first time we hung out. I almost told him I loved him that night. That would have freaked him out so I am glad that I held back until he told me first.

12. Do you get along with any of the ex's of your partner? I have met her 2 times and that was 2 times too many. Others I do like and talk to.

13. Do you trust this person? Yes, I totally trust Dave with ANYTHING.

14. Do you see your partner in your future? Absolutely. We better be together for eternity or I will be very upset! just kidding.

15. What’s the most expensive thing this person has given you? I guess our house but we gave it to each other. Otherwise I would say my wedding ring, that was just for me.

16. What is one thing he/she does that gets on your nerves? I would have to say how much he works. He is constantly working on some project. However, I totally appreciate that he is a hard worker.

17. What is the thing you do that gets on his/her nerves? I asked him this question, he had a hard time figuring out what bugged him and he said how I have certain way of making the bed... hhahaha... that's it?

18. Where do you see each other in 15 years from now? Totally done having kids, very established in life and in a bigger house.

19.Will this person repost this? No, he doesn't have a blog.

However, I hope I see this on other people's blogs. Its fun to revisit the early days of our relationship. I must add how much I love Dave. I feel like we are perfect for each other. We both have things we can change to make things better but we work well together. We get a long great. I adore HIM!!!!

Am I going the right way?

I have been thinking about this question for a while now. Several lessons have made me stop and ponder for days as to were my life is headed and if what I am doing is the right thing to do. I go through spurts where I read my scriptures constantly and feel the love of my Father in Heaven. My life seems to go so much smoother as I have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost so close. I find myself being more patient with the kids, I feel as though I have more energy to do my every day tasks, I feel I can ask for anything from Heavenly Father and that if I have any struggle what so ever during the day that I am able to work through it so much better. But as my life gets busy or the daily routine gets a kink in it for one reason or another I slowly drift away from the everyday scripture study or constant prayer in my heart. My prayers seem to lack the necessary faith or they just don't seem to be as meaningful. Am I just doing it to do it? Or am I really trying to communicate with my Father in Heaven? I want to, so badly, live a good, "righteous", life but I find my self struggling to do that at times because the natural man in me doesn't allow me to do that. Well, as I sat in class today thinking or trying to apply what was being taught in the lesson into my life, I realized that even as we struggle we KNOW what is right and wrong. As a young woman I made a decision to marry in the temple to a righteous returned missionary, I made the decision to have a clean body and follow the word of wisdom, I made the decision to always go to church and I HAVE done all of those things. That is not to say that I don't struggle to always have good thoughts, or use good language, or even participate in things that are just not very uplifting... mmmm, like talking bad about people. I have struggled with that a lot. I need to "stop" and re-evaluate my life. I need to better my spiritual life so that I can achieve my goal of returning to live with my Father in Heaven along with my little family. I need to be good for them not just me. As a mother I need to be an example to my children. I know that if I live my life in the way that I know is right, then I will be blessed. I have seen the blessings in my life very clearly and I recognize them... I feel like my life is at a stand still when it should be moving in an upward direction. I hope that as I have really taken the time to think about this I can make changes were changes need to be made. I am grateful for the inspired people that the Lord has put in my life to help me realize or remind me of my purpose here on earth, which is to be tested and hopefully and eventually be made perfect. I have a VERY LONG way to go, but I am trying.

Children's Museum

Last Wednesday we had planned on going to the zoo with Abuela, Ni and baby Alex but the weather had other plans so we ended up going to the Children's Museum at the Gateway. The kids LOVE going there and really, they have a great time. It was a bit chaotic since there were 3 schools there that day. The older kids were being very rowdy and they don't watch the little kids that are around. Regardless of the excess of older kids there, we had a great time watching the kids play. The kids love to go into the market and play cashier or shopper, they enjoyed playing "Bob the Builder" in the construction site, Mylo had a great time being a fire fighter and helping the "civilians" around town. Leah REALLY liked being a cow girl in the farm and riding the horse like a princess. Ni LOVES being around people so he loved everything there, I think he really enjoyed the Helicopter the best. Baby Alex was a little angel in the stroller watching everyone around him. He is such a good baby. Abuela and I had a great time keeping up with the kids and running after them. Here's a few pictures of our day at the Children's Museum.

Our little girl is growing!

The other big thing that happened this weekend was that Leah is no longer a little girl. She is a big girl now! She lost her first tooth, which means that she will not longer have baby teeth. We noticed she had a loose tooth several months ago and it has been a long time coming for her tooth to come out. Well, she was playing with her cousins after dinner and sucking on a lollipop and all of the sudden the cousins and Leah come up saying "Leah just lost her tooth!"...I was like wait, what? I take a look at my little princess with her tooth gone and I start to tear up. I know it silly but Leah is my first born and she will never look the same again. I am so happy that she is growing up and "maturing" but it made me sad to see her be so big. Of course she was very excited about the whole thing and the tooth fairy came that night. She woke me up the next morning with a toothless smile very happy with the tooth fairy "gift". Here is my toothless big girl... I LOVE HER!!!!

Easter Fun with Trevino Cousins

Easter was great with the exception that Dave was out of town and we have yet to take our family picture but that will come soon. Abuela made beautiful easter dress for Leah and she felt like a princess. I will have picture of that later... We had an easter dinner at Trevino's house and it was so nice! The kids had an easter egg hunt, after one at home of course. They all got along super nice and really had a great time hanging out together. Dinner was fabulous and the company was great!

I love this picture of Ryan. He is a funny little kid!

A day at the park with Uboldi cousins

I love weekend like this one. We got together with all our cousins. Saturday we got together with Uboldi cousins and went to an awesome park. It was SUPER cold but of course the kids could care less. This park had some really cool toys to play on so they kids had a ball. Here are a few pictures of the kids having fun.

Maria pushed the kids on this weird/cool merry-go-round thing that they loved. She was very nice to do that. I got dizzy just watching her.

Happy Birthday Big AL!!!!

First of all we love you! You are a great great guy. You have been an example to me and a good support for me and my family. I am so honored to be part of your family. Thanks for accepting me as one of your own daughters and making me feel so comfortable as a Trevino. You are so generous, always willing to help, you are fun, and funny, you showed Dave a good example as far as being adventurous when you went on MANY family trips. I asked the kids what they love about grandpa Al and this is what they said...

Leah said, "He is silly, and cute, and he gives us dinner"

Mylo said, "He gives me golf balls"

Al, Thank you for being a great grandpa to our kids. We appreciate all you do for us as a family and as individuals. WE LOVE YOU!!! Have a great Birthday!

(Here is the best picture I could find of you)

Teaching the TRUE meaning of Easter

I found this FHE idea on one of my favorite websites, . From there it links you to another website that has the whole thing laid out for you. We have been really good about FHE this year and this one was easy and fun. I had Leah help me get all the necessary things for each egg and that evening we talked about The True Meaning of Easter. Easter is one of my favorite holidays as we are able to remember our Savior. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a mom and teach my kids about this magnificent example, Jesus Christ. I feel silly sometimes when I bare my testimony and get all teary in front of my kids, but the truth is that I have a HUGE testimony of Jesus Christ. What his sacrifice means to me and having the knowledge of the true gospel is an amazing blessing. I feel comfort and hope when I am struggling or going through a difficult time in my life. I love to read the scriptures and feel the love that my Heavenly Father has for me. Its AMAZING! I hope you can try this little Easter Activity with your family some time.

Happy 8th B-day Meggie!!!

I am sorry this is belated but we love you and think you are great!!! Hope you had a great birthday. I can't believe you are 8! Time has gone by so fast. You are fun girl with many talents. One of my favorite times with you was last August at the Wild Animal park in San Diego. Below is one of my favorite pictures of you. Can't wait to see you in the summer! Hope all your wishes come true this next year... WE LOVE YOU!

Green is In!

Our NEW tradition continues... Today, for St. Patrick's Day, we all dressed in green and had fun looking at everyone else who wasn't wearing it. Leah would say "She doesn't have her green shirt on". It was fun to see how many people had green on too. One of Dave's co-workers wasn't in the St. Patrick's Day spirit and Leah was a little shy to pinch him but she did anyway... It was cute. He was a good sport.

We had a "green" dinner. Leah and I made our own green decorations to hang from our light above our kitchen table. It was fun to share that with her. I already had green napkins so that added to the green theme. We also had green straws, extra green lemonade with slices of limes, we ate broccoli, spinach tortellinis filled with cheese and homemade bread. For desert we had yellow cake (Dave's favorite) with Starlight Mint Ice Cream. We told the kids if you want to have green eyes you have to eat green stuff... it only works for Leah; apparently she is the only one eating enough green stuff in our family. Mylo says he has green eyes with skateboards in them, not sure what he means by that?!?!?

Here are a few pictures of our Green Day!

Fun with Dad!
(It looks like Mylo is smelling Leah's foot and it takes a second to tell which foot belongs to who)

Lollipops!!!

I have always wanted to make lollipops. The only thing missing were a few key components like the candy thermometer and the molds. Well, today was the day. Tiffany, one of my friends, and I got together while the kids played and made 3 batches of lollipops. Watermelon, Apple and Peach. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Its always more fun to do new things with someone else as well. Tiffany is very good in the kitchen, so who better than her? I also made my first apricot jam with her last year and I love it. Here are a few pictures of our little adventure of today.

Here are the goodies!

Our First Girls Trip!!!!

For a long time now I have wanted to take Leah to Disney since she has always loved the princesses and she is one her self. Well, as little Milli is due to arrive soon I figured we should take the opportunity while we can. Leah is like me in that she gets very excited about things and can't wait to do something or open a present ahead of time. It very fun to have someone like me around, jajajaja...

We were greeted by my Aunt Maggy, who we LOVE,and her family. They were great hosts and extremely accommodating. We also got to see Aunt Marilu and her family. It was a lot of fun since my cousin Maria Noel, had a new baby girl who is ADORABLE! One of the things I had to do while in Florida was eat an authentic Cuban Sandwich... MMMM... it was worth the long 8.5 years since I left the Sunshine State. We went to the beach with Christian and the mall. We visited one of my best friends and her family. However, the highlight of our trip was Disney! I had made a plan of the things we wanted to see and do and we got to do them all. However, it wouldn't of been possible without Christian's help. He carried Leah and our bag all day which made life a lot more comfortable for me. Leah's favorite ride was the Buzz Lightyear ride (Mylo would say "Buzz Lightcheer"), The Monster's Inc. Comedy Show (we got asked questions like were we were from and of course our names. The "monster" asked us if there was an Eiffel Tower were we live and Leah said "yes"... it was very cute)and of course she loved seeing all the princesses; Ariel, from the Little Mermaid was her favorite (and also the longest wait EVER). She does the dance from "its a Small World" and its super cute. We also really enjoyed getting the best gelatto in Florida. Leah loved that! Here is a quick slide show from our girls trip... Hope you enjoy it. I am sure there will be more girls trip to come.

Happy 31st B-day Dave!!!!

I love you!!! You are the best... EVER! I can't believe that I have actually remembered your b-day. After more than eight years of marriage I have only remembered your b-day like 3 or 4 times, that is terrible. For some we have been out of town and so we have never done anything super exciting... I hope you know how much I love you. You are a great father and a great husband as well. You are my best friend and I love sharing my life with you. Thank you for your support and love, and for all your hard work. Hope you have a great day, I LOVE YOU!!!
Which Way?

Leah telling herself a story

Another one of Dave's cool pictures. It helps that he has great subjects to photograph. Leah really loves this kind of stuff as well. She is a great little model.
Fascinating Story

Cool Mylo...

Life's Up's and Down's!

Here is the DOWN....I didn't want to put anything "negative" on my blog, but as this is part of our lives I thought I would share some insight in to it. My relationship with my dad has never been a great one. I do however, have fond memories of him as a young girl/woman, but my dreams have been shattered as of late. This week was particularly difficult due to some issues that we have been dealing with. It was close to 6 o'clock on Thursdays night and I had a VERY important phone call to make. My heart had been racing all day, since I was nervous and perhaps a bit concerned. I had to speak to my dad, and perhaps for the last time. After the phone call I was beside myself and had to take a few minutes to relax, since I was having a hard time breathing. I am not sure what has happened but he is not the person I knew. It truly breaks my heart to have to go through this and I TRULY pray that some day things can be back to "normal". I completely disagree with my dad's choices, but for some reason I can't just forget about him. He has hurt me immensely, but there is no trial I can not over come. Some good must come out of all of this.... I just wish I knew what it was so all of this could be done.
This is how I feel about this...

Here is the UP...I am grateful for great friends. My life wouldn't be the same with out them. I have been so blessed with the friends that surround me. From a phone call, a note, even a quick act of service, or simply a hug; my life is easier because of them. I only hope I can be there for my friends when they need me. How would it be to not have friends we could rely on? Or friends and family who sincerely love you? Or care about you? Or encourage you to do better? All I know it that friends are a HUGE blessing in my life. Thank you to each of you that make my life easier, whether you are near or far. OOO's and XXX's.
This is how I feel about my friends...

YEAH!!!! I am 30+ weeks!!!

I am 30+ weeks, which means I only have 10 weeks to see little Milli and hold her in my arms, and to share her with Dave and the kids. Nothing makes me happier right now than to see how she is progressing and growing. I had a doctor's appointment this last week and it was GREAT! Milli is growing and sounds great. She got the hiccups for the first time that day and that was very fun. Although a bit annoying, but very reassuring. I have asked the kids what color of eyes or hair they think Milli will have and one says blue, the other says green, I say brown; we'll see soon enough.
Here is a picture of me at 30 weeks!

I will be having a "natural" birth, I mean with no anesthesia, so Dave and I have been attending some Hypno-birthing classes. This week was very informational and useful. I can see that together we will be able to accomplish this goal of mine. I feel like it has brought me closer together with Dave since I have to put a lot of trust in him to help me relax and get to a "hypnotized" state. We have practiced some at home and that was very helpful as well. I was amazed to see how it TOTALLY worked!

Good Little Buddies!

Every couple of weeks my mom, "Abuela", comes up to our house with Nicholas and Alex, Karalee's kids. It a crazy day but the kids love it. Mylo and Nicholas are only three weeks apart and they have been good little buddies for a while now. Its always fun to see them interact with each other and see them play and develop their skills together. If one of them has a toy the other one wants it at that same time. Even though we have occasional "issues" it's always a pleasure to have them be together. Nicholas is very funny... He calls Mylo, "Beau". We are not sure why but that is what he has called him for EVER! He calls me "Lor", so I call him "Ni".

Good little buddies, Mylo and Nicholas (aka Ni).

Mylo and Ni (picture was taken with Dave's Lomography Fish Eye II camera)

We went on a walk with Dave and the kids needed a rest.

Here is Alex(5.5 months) and Mylo.

And of course our little princess, Leah.
