Leah came home one day wanting to make sugar crystals, since a boy in her class brought his to school. After some research on how-to we did it. It was a SUPER easy science experiment :)
This is Leah holding her sugar crystal that sat on the window sill for about 5 days. It got really big and really "crystally". It has some great crystal formations.
After carefully chipping it off the bottom of the jar we were able to pull her crystal out. She was obviously very pleased with her project.
I just LOVE Mylo's face as he is showing off his crystal. Those sausage fingers are too cute :) He too was very proud of his project, however... it did not turn out as cool as Leah's. We did his too fast and the sugar crystal formed on the bottom and sides of the jar rather than on the string. still it was fun to see how different they were.
This is Mylo's tiny sugar crystal that was left on the string :) Still he thought it was pretty cool.
Both Leah and Mylo ate their sugar crystals, which were not tasty at all! But they loved the to see the crystals grow every day.

Great post except for the eating part. Yuck Haha
What a fun experiment! Definitely something to try in the future.
What fun! Good for you to have listened to her excitement, researched it, AND then did it!
They look like those crystal suckers that were the real treat in a pioneer store (like Nauvoo or Lagoon). Know what I'm talking about? Can't say I ever tasted them...always opted for a different treat. BUT they were pretty!
We've talked about doing these several times but never have.. maybe soon.
That is cool! We might have to try that. Dylan would LOVE it.
Very cool. I'll have to research that and see if it's something Olivia would like to do. Thanks for the idea!
that looks like a pretty cool, fun and and well maybe not so yummy experiment that my kids might like to try too. Leah and Mylo look so happy.
