Migraines!!!

Migraines have been a regular occurrence with me, ever since I got pregnant. I have had this before with my other pregnancies but never this bad. I have them at least once a week and it puts me out (and behind on things) for a couple of days. I can hardly sit at the computer or read a book. I am not sure why I am getting these migraines all the time, but the only solution is Excedrin Migraine and a Diet Coke. However, on Saturday I got one so bad that, that didn't even work. I had a massage but still my headache remained for the rest of the day and into Sunday. It was hard to look up at the teacher during the lesson. Even since Saturday I have had constant tunnel vision and its NOT cool! Taking a nap helps and I try to never skip on that, plus it helps me be a little more patient with my kids :)

What works for you guys when you get a migraine? I feel like I might need to try some more things other than just rely on Dt. Coke.

Thanks Carrie- I also didn't know it was safe to take Excedrine when pregnant but funny thing is that my dr. said to take that AND coke. I have only done it once, I try to stay away from medicine even when I am not pregnant, but migraines are unbearable at times.

Soooo sorry Lau! I had only that one and it was one of the worst days of my life. I will remind you about the suggestion Esteban read when he googled it...have more sex. I'm just following what google says. :)

I don't know. I have had really bad headache/migraine issues with this pregnancy too. I don't remember having them with either of my other pregnancies though. I usually have to sleep it off if it's bad enough and sometimes a little bit of caffeine will help (now that I can stomach that). My midwife actually told me they're probably hormonal since I don't get them normally (not often at least) and that if they are related to the pregnancy, they usually start to get better around week 24. Maybe, if that's why you're having them, you're almost done. Hopefully that's the case! :) I didn't think about possibly being dehydrated. I'm going to up my water intake just in case. Hope you feel better though. There is nothing worse than intense pain in your head like that. :( Blah!

I am so glad that you posted about this. I just started getting bad migraines and I did not know what to do to get rid of them. I am loving all of your friends tips here. I hope you feel better soon!

I have to go lay down in a very dark room and sleep it off. Sometimes it works.

Oh Laura I am sooooo sorry!! I wish I had tricks but I don't. THe only trick I know is take an Excedrin as soon as you start getting signs that a migraine is coming but I am sure you already do that!! Oh man I am so sorry there is nothing worse than a migraine!

I use a microwave rice bag on my eyes (with a towel over my eyes and head so it doesn't burn your face). Most of my migraines are behind my eyes and the heat dilates the blood vessels and helps relieve the pain (along with the pain relievers and Coke).
