"Holey" Smile Begins

Mylo has entered this fun, excited and awkward looking state, finally!  He has been wiggling this tooth for what seems to me months and last Monday it was finally pulled out.  It was very exciting.  Sunday, we (Dave and I) pushed it really hard.  Mylo kept on coming up to us and asking us to do it every hour or so.  Then he wiggled it ALL day Monday.  Monday night, for FHE (Yes, lame, but it was a family affair) we all gathered around and while Leah tried holding Mylo's hand for support, I carefully tied some floss around the very loose tooth and pulled.  It took about three tries and with a quick flick of the wrist if flew out... Yes, it flew!  It hit my cheek, then I heard it hit the wall in the front room and that was it.

Mylo didn't even flinch.  I said, "its out!" and he said, "really?!?!"  all surprised  :)  Sure enough he felt the new hole in his mouth and said, "but I don't sounds like Leah when her teeth came out".  I reassured him he would get that cute little lisp when his top teeth come out.  I just love him!

THEN, we were on the search for the flying tooth... With flashlight in hand and all on our knees we found the shinny little tooth.  YAY!  (that would have been devastating)

THEN, Mylo wanted to write a letter to the tooth fairy.  The letter said this:

Dear Toothfairy,

I want to keep my tooth.
Can I please keep my tooth?
Please check a box below:

Yes, you may keep your tooth

No, you may not keep your tooth. I need it.

Thank you.

Love,

Mylo Trevino

ps.  Please leave this note here.  Thank you!

I was sure the tooth fairy would let him keep his tooth, but she didn't!  Lets just say that we had a sad little toothless boy the next morning.  He got over it as the day progressed.

I'm just wondering.... How much money does the tooth fairy leave at your house?  At ours, just ONE dollar.  Is that crazy?  It seems that other tooth fairies leave $5.  If that is the case, Leah is owed some money and so is Mylo....

update 3/8/11:  Yes, I do pull out their teeth.  I am too impatient :)  It try not to do it too early, but i just can't resists!!!!

update 3/10/11:  The toothfairy (aka. Dave) said it wouldn't be fair to Leah.  Since she never got to keep her teeth.  I'm sure the toothfairy knows where they all are... She is good at keeping them all together.  Perhaps some day they will get them all back :)

$1 sounds good to me.
I got 20c and 50c for my big molars.
We havn't had a 'tooth' incident yet so I guess we haven't had to make a decision.
Cool photo and great story.
Are there any others that are loose?

Love the note! Check a box! Glad he told the fairy to leave the note, then you can save it.

Meg has yet to lose any teeth. I am not so sure what teeth are worth here, yet.

Love the note. Tooth fairies these days are totally overpaying. We leave a quarter for each year they are old... which turns out to be a about $1.50ish. My boys friends just got $10 and that is just crazy to me.

That is funny. Do you always pull out their teeth? $1 is plenty girlfriend! Pretty soon they'll be asking for $20! :)

So I have to ask... why didn't the tooth fairy let him keep the tooth? What would be so wrong with that??

Our tooth fairy leaves $2, but I wish I would've had a talk with her before the first tooth came out and asked her to leave $1 instead. It gets to be a lot for that poor tooth fairy to keep up with.

Our tooth fairy leaves 2 quarters. Barry keeps all the kids' teeth too (which I think is crazy, I was totally going to throw them away! But I guess he's a dentist so he can keep them if he wants :)

Congrats Mylo!!! I love the note. I say just be happy if the tooth fairy remembers to come. My kids have decided that the tooth fairy needs teeth to build her house so they are excited to give them to her. The other day Gabi lost her tooth and I forgot to leave anything and she came up to me in the morning and said "hand it over" It is actually a relief that she knows because it takes away the guilt when I forget. But...it was her last tooth so it doesn't matter anyway..
Oh, our tooth fairy (when she remembers to come) brings $5.00. Yours must be a cheapskate.

At our house, the tooth fairy gives up to $1.50 per tooth IF they had to have them pulled by the dentist and they were very brave...unfortunately, most of our baby teeth have been pulled as they are VERY stubborn and don't want to come out.

What! He is way too young to lose a tooth. He is such a cutie, and so very clever.

Our toothfairy is CHEAP. .50cents. THat's it. AND she frequently forgets to come, and the kids have to wait multiple nights to get their measly 50 cents.
