Brave Little Fish

Leah has been taking swimming lessons this summer and has really been enjoying it. She has much improved since last summer. Here's a quick video of her diving off the diving bored. She is a very brave little girl and is always willing to try something new.

Something funny about swimming this year...During Mylo's swim lessons Leah and her friend Maddie would hang out by the deep end and watch this little boy named Cody. They have learned how to get boys to things for them, already. Leah and Maddie would throw a toy into the pool and he would dive in and get it. Well, a few weeks ago after church was over, Maddie asked Leah if she was still in love with Cody. I was quite surprised as to the question and very interested in the answer. Leah said she WAS and asked Maddie if SHE was still in love with him too. Aren't they a bit young to be "in love" with the pool boy?

Funny sister....

Leah wanted some candy and I told her she had to share with Mylo, well I didn't know he was asleep. Mylo was so tired that he fell as sleep on a little blue rocking/bouncy chair. I thought it was so funny that Leah had "shared" with him anyway, that I had to take his picture. You might have to look close to see the blue skittle resting in Mylo's mouth... Enjoy!

Good Job Leah!

There is a first for everything. Leah wanted to paint her own nails so I let her. For her first time I think she did a pretty good job. She was pretty excited about it and showed her nails to every one. I love that she wants to be a girlie girl.

De tal palo, tal astilla

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Here is Mylo wearing his daddy's shoes. He wants to be just like Dave and at times he reminds me of him, a lot. Mylo is obsessed with Tony Hawk and everything skateboarding. The other day I told him we were going to the Days of 47 Parade and that we would see motorcycles doing cool tricks and he said "bikes are best on dirt". He made us laugh... what a little stinker!

Just like dad, including the Mt. Dew :)

Fun in the "big" pool

Mylo and Leah were "diving" in. Check out Leah's first attempt to dive in...HAHAHAA! They had so much fun and the day was beautiful.

We need a bigger pool

The kids were hot and they wanted to get in the pool. So this is what they did. I thought it was so funny, I just had to take a picture.

A bit of a scare

Sunday night Milli woke up with a high fever and was not acting very well. Monday morning I took her in to get checked out. While at the doctor's office he said I should take her to Primary Children's to have them do a full check-up on her. Milli's fever was not breaking and she was miserable. Her fontanel was a bit more raised than it should be and moving her from one spot to another was just the worst thing I could do to her. Tiffany took Leah and Mylo while I spent a few hours at the hospital. I was a basket case as I drove to the hospital, as I didn't want Milli to be in pain and I was worried as to what could be wrong with her. When we arrived they did some blood work and a urine test as well. The poor thing was balling through most of it and I couldn't bare to watch. The test came back normal if not perfect, so they let us go home with the instruction to come back if her "chenchapure" (temperature, that is how Leah use to say it) got above 100.8. Through out the day Milli was miserable and her fever was constant. Tuesday she was even worse her temperature was still there and getting higher. She wasn't eating well and every time I tried burping her she would wail. It was SO sad, my heart was breaking for her.
When Dave came home I was ready to take her back to the hospital. Dave and Wells gave her and I a blessing and off we went. They admitted us to the ER and they had to do a Lumbar Puncture (LP or Spinal Tap) to see what was going on. It was SO SO sad to see her scream as they did this. The spinal fluid was the only way for her to "tell" us what was wrong. We waited for test and feared for the worst, meningitis. Sure enough when the test came back she had a high white blood cell count which indicated an infection. They told us she had meningitis and that they would have to administer antibiotics just in case it was a bacterial meningitis. We finally got up to our room and had a pretty bad night with her. Now it was a waiting game. We had to wait for the LP cultures to come back to verify whether it was a virus or a bacteria that was causing the infection. Wednesday was day of waiting and continued poking, poor Milli. I finally broke down Wednesday night as I was tired and out of ideas of how to comfort Milli. I was obviously concerned and anxious to get the results. Thursday morning we got the results we had been waiting for, she had a VIRAL meningitis, caused by a summer virus called Enterovirus. We would be able to come home that day and she didn't need to have any more antibiotics. I was thrilled! She really is feeling so much better and is smiling at us. It was a blessing that "Poopy Squast" (aka Tomi) was still here and she was able to watch the kids. Leah and Mylo love Tomi and she did a fabulous job with them... this morning they woke up and wanted to play with her. Tomat, thank you for ALL your help. Thanks to others who put our name in the temple and for the calls and concerns. We are of course so glad to be home but I must say the doctors, nurses and interns at Primary Children's were more than kind, gentle and sincere with us. I am grateful for that as well.
