I have been blessed with a new calling. I am the Humanitarian Specialist in our ward. At first I thought this was a calling to make sure I didn't go inactive after my
YW calling. I was not totally looking forward to my new calling until a few weeks ago when I went to the Humanitarian Center in
SLC. The work all those people are doing is
amazing. Dianne Taylor (RS Counselor) and I were so excited after visiting the center. I was also so pleased with the desire to help from the sisters in the ward. At the beginning of the meeting we watched a short video on how all the things we would be making are helping those around the world that are in need. It really
didn't seem like much to make a few baby blankets, school bags, feminine hygiene bags, bibs and teddy bears. But, knowing how much people would
appreciate our work, it really paid off. We are so blessed to have this great opportunity to served those on the other side of the world! My heart was/is so full as I see those lives we will touch. Not only that but how this has touched MY life. I am so grateful for the sisters that helped me put this together, from coming over to cut patterns, to the people who have stuffed bears, sewed loads of things, surged bags, tied quilts,
lent us sewing machines and even those
brethren who helped us set up and those who watched our kids as we worked. I am so excited for the Humanitarian efforts we are making in our ward.
Together we really are making a difference!
